Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge Hotelaria Ltda
Anavilhanas is a jungle hotel,
immersed in the forest, and there
would be no way to make it a reality
without considering sustainability as a
basic premise. The commitment goes
beyond more tangible initiatives, such
as the efficient use of energy; but a
broader perspective, which places the
local community at the forefront.
Keeping the forest standing, as
well as its communities and culture,
is the lodge’s great mission, as
it recognizes sustainable tourism
as a tool for conservation.
Preservation of fauna, flora, and
Amazonian culture is always in mind.
In 2006, we started out with 39
hectares, and today we preserve
an area of 520 hectares of forest.
In addition to the lodge area and its
surroundings, we maintain a private
reserve located at about 50 km
(31 miles) from the hotel.
We perceive sustainable tourism as
an opportunity for local development
and environmental education. We are
currently the largest private employer
in the region – around 85% of our
employees are locals.
Carefully and respectfully, we strive
to improve the quality of life of our
employees and to engage them in
the fight to preserve the Amazon.
