Islandhotel Group

Islandhotel group have been certified by the Foundation for Environmental Education’s Green Key certification since 2024, committing to improving waste management, eliminating single-use plastic items, and increasing the use of reusable and recycled packaging throughout all hotel operations.

Commitments:

In the framework of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, the Islandhotel group commits to: 

  • Eliminating problematic and/or unnecessary plastic from rooms, bathrooms, food and drink services, cleaning services, and kitchen by 2030. 

  • Introducing reuse models or reusable alternatives in rooms, bathrooms, food and drink services, and cleaning areas by 2025. 

  • Engaging the value chain to provide data on recyclability and compostability of plastic packaging to facilitate the move towards 100% of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2030 by engaging suppliers and regulators. 

  • Taking action to increase recycled content across all plastic packaging and items by 2030 by engaging suppliers, regulators, and business associations, establishing procurement criteria. 

  • Collaborating and investing in increasing recycling and composting rates by providing training to staff on waste sorting, engaging waste service providers as well as business and other key stakeholders.  

  • Reporting publicly and annually on progress made towards these targets.
