Ecolabels and SPP in the Building & Construction Sector – Insights and Experiences from Asia

This webinar showcases four practical experiences from the Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan that demonstrate how ecolabels and sustainable public procurement can drive a more sustainable building and construction sector. It is designed for ecolabelling schemes, policymakers, procurement officials, and professionals committed to advancing sustainability in the building and construction sector.

You will gain insights into:

  • Developing robust ecolabel criteria for high‑impact materials such as cement and steel, including the integration of biodiversity, climate change, resource efficiency and social aspects.

  • Advancing regional harmonization through Mutual Recognition Agreements, and understanding how aligned ecolabel criteria can strengthen markets and reduce barriers for producers.

  • Pilot testing ecolabel criteria with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and women‑led companies to assess feasibility, identify challenges, and support inclusive participation.

  • Implementing legal and policy reforms that enable the use of ecolabels in sustainable public procurement, along with practical guidance for public procurers on integrating ecolabels into tender processes.
