Priorities identified at the 32nd meeting of the SFS Programme’s Multi-stakeholder Advisory Committee
The SFS Programme held the 32nd meeting of its Multi-stakeholder Advisory Committee (MAC) virtually on 4th November, 2025. This was the first meeting for the new members of the partially renewed MAC, which received a warm welcome and who we’d like to thank once again for their strong commitment: Argentina, Brazil, Yemen, the Municipality of Copenhagen, ICENECDEV, and IUCN.
At the meeting, the MAC discussed strategic priorities for the biennium 10/2025 – 10/2027, identifying the following as some of the key areas:
- Securing convergence and coherence across all public policy areas that are related to food systems outcomes (incl. nutrition, climate, biodiversity, etc.).
- Promoting measures that focus on equity and resilience through linking environmental, economic and social dimensions of food systems.
- Tackling political economy dynamics, in particular power asymmetries and structural inequalities.
- Enabling effective and meaningful participation of all relevant stakeholders in policy processes related to food systems.
In the context of efforts on food systems policy convergence and coherence, Brazil presented the "Plan to Accelerate Solutions for the Convergence and Coherence of Public Policies for Climate Action and Food Systems Transformation” (PAS), which they submitted under the Action Agenda of the COP30 Presidency, and which the SFS Programme has accepted to host.
In the context of the SFS Programme’s outreach and advocacy efforts in policy fora, the SFS Programme co-leads informed the MAC of the recent success with the adoption of IUCN Resolution “Accelerating action for nature-positive, sustainable agriculture and food systems”, which was jointly submitted by WWF, Switzerland and other partners (see story below), approved at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi in October 2025.
