[VIDEO] Transforming agrifood systems through shared learning
Since 2021, the Sustainable Food Systems in the Mediterranean (SFS-MED) Project (GCP/INT/748/ITA) implemented by FAO has brought together voices from across the Mediterranean region to rethink agrifood systems through dialogue, shared learning and collective action. This video captures key moments from the SFS-MED journey, where dialogue, shared learning and collaboration are driving real change in agrifood systems. From fresh ideas to inclusive action, discover how stakeholders are working together to build sustainable, resilient agrifood systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life.
Project activities were articulated in:
Direct support to 3 countries:
- In Albania, FAO accompanied the government in holding a series of multistakeholder dialogues at local and national level that resulted in the formulation of a national roadmap and action plans for food systems transformation with greater agency of local stakeholders, leveraging agritourism as an entry point.
- In Morocco, FAO support was pivotal for establishing a national multistakeholder National Committee for Food Systems Transformation (CNTSA) to ensure multi-sectoral collaboration, and for enabling advocacy and capacity building for a wider range of agrifood systems stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector and government actors.
- In Jordan, activities helped strengthening the role of cities in the national agrifood systems transformation agenda, by leveraging city-to-city exchanges and regional networks.
- Regional efforts to advance agrifood systems transformation, such as the organization of UNFSS dialogues, technical webinars, conferences and the production of technical studies on pathways for agrifood systems transformation and regional collaboration. The regional activities were carried out in partnership with key regional players (CIHEAM, PRIMA and UfM) under the framework of the “SFS-MED Platform”.
