Global Tourism Plastics Initiative: 2023 Annual Progress Report
The GTPI Annual Progress Report 2023 evaluates the advancements made by signatory organisations in 2022 in addressing plastic pollution within the tourism industry. The report details the progress made across five commitment areas:
Eliminating problematic and/or unnecessary plastics.
Transitioning to reuse models or reusable alternatives.
Engaging the supply chain to make all plastic packaging reusable, recyclable, or compostable.
Increasing the use of recycled plastic content.
Collaborating and investing to improve recycling and composting rates.
The report summarises progress of five signatory groups — accommodation providers, cruise, and vertically integrated businesses; suppliers; destinations; supporting organisations; and tour operators, travel agents, and platforms — and provides detailed profiles for several key companies, showcasing their efforts and progress in plastic reduction.
