GGBS(*) For Green Concrete

  • Published on October 29, 2024

The Buildings and Construction sector account for 36% of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. Embodied carbon of building materials constitutes a major portion of these emissions with Cement and Steel as major constituents. With a commitment to make all new developments Net Zero by 2030, Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited is working towards use of alternative low carbon materials and has replaced 30-60% of cement in concrete with Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) – a by-product of iron manufacturing which is disposed of as waste; thereby reducing the cement content (& related emissions) and ensuring material circularity.
