Environmental Alliance of the Americas
The Environmental Alliance of the Americas is the first regional initiative to host a common program for ecolabelling and environmental declarations in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our goal is to provide a common, reliable ecolabelling platform that offers clear and truthful information to producers and consumers, based on official quality systems and internationally recognized certifications.
The Environmental Alliance of America proposes the creation of an ecolabelling and declaration system for the region.
How does the Environmental Alliance of America work?
The Environmental Alliance of America (AAA) is led by the General Assembly of Members and a Board of Directors, which also coordinates with the committees. The General Assembly of Members is the highest authority and executive body of the AAA. It is composed of national ministries or secretariats from each country, along with national standardization and accreditation entities.
The Board of Directors is made up of 3 ministries, 3 standardization entities, and 3 accreditation entities, all designated by the Assembly. Its members are appointed on a rotating basis for a two-year term.
The AAA was established in July 2024 in Colombia, with the participation of standardization and accreditation entities from several Latin American countries — including Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Mexico, and Costa Rica — and with the support of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
