Baanko Challenge - Building social impact businesses
From November 6th to 27th, 2021, the Baanko Challenge took place, this being the 2nd edition in a fully online format.
The Baanko Challenge is a free pre-acceleration program for impact businesses in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals that during the three weeks promotes lectures, workshops, workshops and meetings to strengthen the 17 impact businesses.
Fostering entrepreneurship and the social ecosystem is the great mission of the Baanko Challenge, in an environment to discuss important topics and connect more and more people with transformative attitudes based on ideas of great social impact!
The Challenge is a 3-week local development program where we support the dialogue on social and environmental impact businesses in cities, bringing together experienced investment professionals (whether in time, skill, knowledge or financial capital) with young entrepreneurs, professionals, university students, companies and NGOs with the objective of scaling solutions and transforming them into responsible businesses that produce great financial, social and environmental returns.
The program was launched in 2014, is now in its 20th edition and has more than 400 accelerated businesses. In addition to the entire program being aligned with the UN SDGs, the Challenge aligns with SDG 12, mainly with the goal of “By 2030, achieve sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.”, as it selects and drives businesses that have a social and environmental impact.
Accelerating impact business related to the SDGs helps not only entrepreneurs to have sustainability in their ventures, but also society, strengthening the ecosystem and providing sustainable alternatives for consumers. Furthermore, the Challenge is organized in a participatory manner, involving the entire local community, which is extremely important to make the projects accessible and recognizable.
