Consumer Awareness for Community Sharing towards Sustainability

[From attached narrative report by SEWA Nepal] General objective of the project is to encourage and educate women and the associated general population on the kitchen waste management and organic kitchen gardening in 5 places of Kathmandu, Nepal. Specific objectives: 1. To train women about organic fertilizer production using kitchen waste through vermicomposting and using it in crops and vegetable production. 2. To encourage women and their neighbours towards sharing of space and resources for waste management and kitchen gardening 3. To provide applicable skill on using rooftop space for gardening and managing kitchen waste. 4. To aware women about the positive aspects of using EM( Effective Microorganism) and earth worm to manage kitchen waste product. 5. To motivate women for the production of organic vegetable and fruits in kitchen garden.
[From attached narrative report by SEWA Nepal] After training: 1. Women were so happy after learning about the ways of managing kitchen waste into compost by the help of EM (Effective Microorganism) and earth worm in a short period without any bad smell and invasion of harmful insects. 2. Women appreciated the different skills of using rooftop space for organic gardening. 3. Women immediately practiced what they learnt and called for trainer for feedback. 4. In all training programs, participants were more reactive to our training where they brought kitchen waste and old newspaper for vermicompost. 5. Women groups, Cooperatives and Kathmandu Municipality committed to develop more programs for promoting rooftop gardening and kitchen waste management among the women in different places. 6. This training program focused on rooftop gardening, kitchen gardening and kitchen waste management and women were reactive to all topics.
