Décret 2015-930 portant classification et Gestion Ecologiquement Rationnelle des DEEE

  • Published on February 2, 2025
The Decree aims to classify E-Waste (WEEE) and to set provisions to ensure their environmentally sound management, thereby helping to reduce their environmental and health impacts.
The decree establishes a clear regulatory framework for the management of E-waste by defining specific categories of such waste to enable better identification and characterization, while also setting obligations for producers, distributors, and consumers. This helps ensure that environmental and health impacts associated with the mismanagement of E-waste, which  often contain hazardous substances, are reduced.

This decree includes provisions covering the entire waste management process, from pre-collection to treatment, including storage, reuse, recycling, and even export.
It operates under the polluter-pays principle and aligns with the Basel Convention, ensuring that costs related to pollution prevention, reduction, treatment, control, and compensation for E-waste impacts are borne by the polluter.

It contributes to promoting sustainable production by encouraging the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment, fostering innovation, and extending product lifespans, thereby reducing the demand for new natural resources. Additionally, the development of the recycling sector creates economic and social opportunities by generating green jobs.
